The Wild Swans at Cool

Premiered Aug 18, 2023 at Killruddery House, Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Created and performed for a sold-out Irish Heritage Week performance at the historic 17th c. Killruddery House, hosted by Lord and Lady Ardee. It includes a silent pantomime rendition of the beloved Irish myth The Children of Lir, followed by a dramatic movement recitation of the W.B. Yeats poem The Wild Swans at Coole. Original score written and performed by Irish harpist Aisling Ennis .

Inspired by Ellen’s Irish American grand parents, with Irish American heritage making up the majority of her background.

Handmade swan costume created by Ellen Frances - comprised of: goose feathers, hand-altered cotton bodice and glass beads — An emerald velvet cape and papier-mâché mask with painted black ink detail. Bronze vintage silk head wrap. Capezio tights. Black custom pointe shoes by Freed of London with added double facing black satin ribbon. / Concept and choreography by Ellen Frances
